Funeral services for Charles F. Schutte, Jr. were held Thursday, October 27, 1988, at St. Paul Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Charles Frederick Schutte, Jr., son of Charles and Ida (Sanders) Schutte, was born November 19, 1915 in Clayton County, Iowa. He died Tuesday morning, October 25, 1988, at Palmer Memorial Hospital, West Union.

He was baptized December 10, 1915 by Rev. E. Schmidt and confirmed April 13, 1930 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana by Rev. H. P. Kumpf.

On December 7, 1939 he married Florence Duwe. Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig performed the ceremony. The couple lived on the Schutte family farm for 40 years before moving to Postville in 1987.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers, Arthur and Robert.

He is survived by his wife, Florence, one sister, Ethel Meyer of Ossian, 2 brothers, Reuben of Castalia and Harry of Monona and one half-sister, Doris Schutte of Postville.

Casket bearers were Myrl Dickman, Robert Plaht, Marvin "Mick" Meyer, Carl Meade, Joe Duwe, Milton Schutte, Merlin Imoehl and Verdine Houg.

Honorary casket bearers were Robert Schneider, Ronald Taylor, August Holthaus, Harold Panncke, Mel Noecker and Marlin Plaht.
