EDWARD A. SHAFER 1903-1975

Services were held Tuesday, January 7 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church for Edward A. Shafer who died January 5 at the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville. The Rev. Dick Harberts and Donald Patterson officiated. Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Edward Arthur was the son of Ernest and Bertha Klocke Shafer. He was born March 4, 1903 in Ludlow Township, Allamakee County. He was baptized in the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church May 24, 1903 by the Rev. T. W. Engelke and confirmed on June 4, 1916 by Rev. Ratz.

He received his education in the rural schools of Ludlow Township.

On February 24, 1927 he was united in marriage to Ada Esther Adam by the Rev. G. K. Widmayer. They had one daughter.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers: Paul, Carl and Ben and a sister, Mrs. August (Esther) Held.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Leo (Jean) Flage of Postville; two granddaughters, Pamela Flage and Mrs. Gregory (Karla) Brink and a sister Mrs. Paul (Ruth) Fiet of Waukon.

He had served as trustee in the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.
