ROGER SHERMAN

Roger Sherman, former resident of this community, passed away at the Doctor's Hospital at Brookfield, Missouri on Thursday, July 11, 1957. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. E. Craig at the Hill Funeral Home, Brookfield, July 13, 1957 at 2:00 o'clock. The body was then brought to Postville where the Rev. W. T. Martin conducted services at the Schutte Funeral Home Sunday, July 14, 1957 at 2:00 o'clock. Burial was at the National Cemetery.

Mark Roger, son of Mark and Mary Sherman was born October 23, 1900 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended the University of Chicago from 1918 to 1922. On April 13, 1942 he was united in marriage with Ellen Loughren [Laughran]. January 1, 1950 Mr. Sherman joined the Postville Community Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Moose Club, Masonic Order, and the Alpha Sigma Phi social fraternity.

Mark Roger Sherman left Postville in 1951 and went to Brookfield where he became proprietor of a hotel. Survivors of Mr. Sherman are his wife; one sister, Mrs. Lester M. Barritt [Barrett], Western Springs, Illinois; and two nephews, Lt. Lester S. Barritt, U. S. A. F. and Ronald Barritt, Western Springs, Illinois.
