Wesley Lange Snitker 1918-1990

Funeral services for Wesley L. Snitker were held Thursday, Aug. 30 at 1:30 p.m. in the Frankville Presbyterian Church, Frankville. Rev. James Elvig officiated. Mrs. Leslie Laterman was organist, with special music by Mrs. Leonard Crawford. Burial was in the Frankville Cemetery. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements.

Wesley Lange Snitker, son of Herman and Emma (Lange) Snitker, was born Feb. 11, 1918 on a farm in Ludlow Township, Allamakee county, IA. He died Monday, Aug. 27, 1990 in Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital, Decorah.

He attended the rural school near his home in Ludlow Township. On June 17, 1938 he married Marie Hangartner at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. They had 13 children. He worked at Cresco Rendering and Hygrade Food Products in Postville prior to his retirement.

On September 17, 1965 he married Emma Bechtel at Frankville, IA. He was a member of the Frankville Presbyterian Church and the Frankville Fire Department.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Marie, his parents, a daughter, Janet Larson, a son, Gorman and 2 brothers, Roland and Raymond. Surviving are his wife, Emma; 5 sons, Gary, Cody, WY; Gale, Belle, Mo; Grant, Waukon; Greg, Albuquerque, NM and Gordon, Decorah; 6 daughters, Judy Barnhouse and Karla Eldridge, both of Marion, Kathy Vaupel, Allentown, PA, Karen Ashbacher and Sandy Felke, Decorah, Patti Hughes, Postville; a stepson, Roger Bechtel, Postville; 2 stepdaughters, Lucille Burr, Cresco, Evelyn Gray, Waukon; a brother Willard, Postville; 2 sisters, Lucille Ludeking, Waukon, Rebecca Henderickson, McGregor; 31 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Casket Bearers: Grandsons. Honorary Casket Bearers: Leonard Crawford, Harold Koth, Leslie Laterman, Wayne Brandt, Roger Sampson and Ted Feickert.
