HERMAN CARL SNITKER 1887-1967
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Salem United Church of Christ, Ludlow, for Herman C. Snitker, who passed away at his home here August 4. The Rev. Dick F. Harberts, pastor of the Community Presbyterian Church, was in charge of the rites; burial was in Salem cemetery.
Herman Carl Snitker, son of Herman Snitker and Amila Vundte, was born February 20, 1887, and passed away in his home on Friday, August 4, 1967, reaching the age of 80 years, five months and 14 days. His entire life was spent on the farm where he was born until his retirement in 1956 when he and his wife moved to Postville.
In 1916, he was united in marriage to Emma Lange. They were the parents of five sons and two daughters. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Ludlow township. He attended the local rural school. He was baptized by the Rev. L. H. Kunst as well as confirmed by him. Having spent his whole life in this community, he is well known and respected.
His wife, Emma, preceded him in death on October 7, 1966; also a son, Daniel, in infancy; two brothers; William and August, two sisters, Lydia and Minnie. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Ludeking (Lucille) of Ludlow township and Mrs. William Hendrickson (Rebecca) of McGregor; four sons, Raymond of Ludlow, Wesley of Frankville, Willard and Rolland of Postville. Also 22 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and a host of friends.
