HENRY JOHN SNITKER 1872-1949

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 9, 1949, at Salem Reformed Church for Henry John Snitker, who passed away at Postville Hospital, August 6, 1949. Rev. Edmond DeBuhr conducted the services assisted by Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig.

Henry John Snitker was born February 28, 1872, son of William Snitker. He was married to Augusta Klepper on February 28, 1895. He became a member of Salem Reformed church in 1895, the same year it was organized, and remained a member until his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife and oldest son, who passed away in 1946. Mr. Snitker is survived by six children, Anna, Mrs. Simon Hesse, of Union Prairie; Mabel, Mrs. Elmer Winke, of Union Prairie; Leona, Mrs. Edwin Duvel, of Union Prairie; Dan of Ludlow; Leo of Winneshiek; and Gertrude at home in Postville. Four brothers and two sisters also survive: Simon of Ludlow; William of Waukon; Ben of Decorah; Dan of Postville; Martha, Mrs. Ambrose of Forest City; and Lydia, Mrs. Otto Knuppe of Ludlow; in addition to 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
