Mrs. LaRUE (Ruth Margaret Hammel) WEBSTER 1894-1982
Services for Ruth Margaret (Hammel) Webster were held Oct. 8 at Forest Mills United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Webster, daughter of John and Caroline (Harris) Hammel, was born July 3, 1894 in Post Township, Postville. She passed away at the Waukon Veterans Memorial Hospital, Oct. 6, 1982.
She received her education at the West Grove Rural School in Post Township. On Oct. 30, 1912 she married LaRue Webster of Postville. They farmed in this area until 1946, when they retired. She was a life long resident of this community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Harland; four brothers -- Ralph, Charles, Leonard and Earl; also five sisters -- Stella, Verna, Bertha, Gusta and her twin sister Ruby.
Surviving are a son, Rev. Curtis H. Webster of Postville; one daughter, June, Mrs. Robert Katzele, of Sullivan, Wis.; one granddaughter, LaRue Colson of Hartford, Wis.; one great granddaughter, Annette, and one sister, Mrs. Pearl McDonald of San Diego, Calif., and a host of nephews and nieces.
Ruth was a life long member of the Forest Mills and Bethel U. B. Churches and remained active until her illness about eight weeks ago.
