Belle Waters
Mrs. Belle Waters, daughter of John and Judith (Smith) Clark, was born February 25, 1867, near Postville in Allamakee county. She passed away August 10, 1961, at the age of 94.
She was baptized and joined the Frankville Presbyterian church August 19, 1893. She was educated in the Waukon schools.
On March 19, 1887, she was united in marriage to Thomas E. Waters in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. To this union was born two sons, Fred of Frankville and Harry, who preceded her in death, in 1920; three daughters, Mabel (Mrs. John Stock) of Sioux City; Florence (Mrs. Reuben Jeglum) of Davenport; and Rubie (Mrs. Cyril Albeck) of Davenport.
With her husband and children she lived on the home farm near Frankville, taking an active part in church and community affairs. Upon the death of Mr. Waters on July 24, 1924, she moved from Frankville and resided with her daughter, Rubie and husband, until the time of her death.
Mrs. Waters is survived by her three daughters and one son; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great-great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Harry and a brother, Granville Clark.
Funeral services were held at Community Presbyterian church, Saturday afternoon, with the Rev. Robert Reynolds officiating. Burial was in the Frankville cemetery.
Relatives attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. John Stock and Marian and Mr. and Mrs. Don Pendleton of Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Jeglum, Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Albert, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Roggensack and Mr. and Mrs. Wendel Tillton, all of Davenport; Geneve and Ruth Waters and Mrs. Lillian Waters of Postville.
