The Rev. Curtis H. Webster, 68, of Postville, died Thursday, Aug. 18, in a motorcycle accident in Allamakee county.

Rev. Webster was born April 11, 1915 in Allamakee county, the son of LaRue and Ruth Hammel Webster. He was a graduate of Luana high school, attended Luther college in Decorah and graduated from Upper Iowa university in Fayette.

He started teaching at Forest Mills in 1935, and in 1941 started a 12 year teaching career at Volney. He taught at the Red School from 1953 to 1967, at which time he became a teacher in the Allamakee Community school system. He was an active speaker for many civic organizations and was the founding member of the Allamakee County Historical society and the Bloomfield Township Historical society of Castalia. He became a minister in September of 1939, first serving the United Brethren church. He served Forest Mills United Methodist church and the Castalia United Methodist church.

He is survived by a sister Mrs. Robert (June) Katzele of Sullivan, WI, a niece LaRue Colson, and a grandniece Annette. He was pre-deceased by his parents and a brother Harlan.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 21 at 3 p.m. at the Waukon Senior high school auditorium, with additional services at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22 at Forest Mills United Methodist church. Dr. Eugene Miller of Dubuque was the officiating minister and a quartet directed by Al Leathers performed. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
