Bertha (Meyer) Schwabe Schroeder

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Frank Schroeder, a former resident of this community, on Friday, March 4, 1:00 p.m., at the Wood Chapel, Seward, Nebraska with the Rev. Raymond Nuetzman officiating. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery.

Mrs. Frank Schroeder, nee Bertha Meyer, the daughter of Carl Meyer and Reka Sass Meyer, was born in Postville on January 20, 1886 and baptized in the Lutheran faith on July 4, 1886. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 8, 1900 and received her schooling in Postville. After graduation, she taught several rural schools and in the Postville school for several years.

On June 12, 1913 she was married to Clemens Schwabe at her folk's home. They made their home in Seward where they ran a printing office until the death of Mr. Schwabe, who passed away February 7, 1940. In (sic) June 25, 1947 she was married to Frank Schroeder of Rochester, New York. They made their home in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she passed away at her home on February 27 at the age of 80 years, one month, and seven days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mrs. Louise Kekas; one brother, Edmund. Survivors include her husband; one brother, Damond of Postville; two nieces and several cousins.
