Francis C. Schroeder

Francis C. Schroeder, was born December 30, 1911 in Postville, Iowa. He died Saturday, June 4, 1994 in Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital. He was 82 years old.

He went to the Postville schools, where he graduated in 1929. He attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1934 as a chemical engineer. He also attended Catage College of Illinois. He moved to Cloquet in 1935. He worked for Potlatch Corp., retiring in 1976 after 42 years of service as a director of environmental control. He was a member and past president of Quarter Century Club, a member and usher of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Cloquet, and a member of Rotary of Cloquet, ARRP, TAPPland Toastmasters. He was also a member and past president of Golden Key Kiwanis and a member and financial officer for many years of Knights of Columbus 5132 of Cloquet. He delivered Meals on Wheels and was a hospital minister.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Richardson, who died in 1961, a son, Michael, who died in 1987 and a brother, Carlton.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Grace; three daughters (sic): Catherine Schroeder of Moose Lake, Jean Schroeder of St. Paul, Minn; three sons, William and wife, Sandra of Scanlon, Theodore of Hopkins and Timothy of Dubuque, Iowa. Also surviving are ten grandchildren.

Mass was held on Tuesday, June 8, 1994 in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Cloquet. The Rev. Fr. Seamus Walsh officiated. The organist was Mary Watson and the soloist was Kara Francisco. The Pallbearers were William Schroeder, Ted Schroeder, Tim Schroeder, Kevin Schroeder, Kelly Schroeder and Kimberly Schroeder. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cloquet. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
