Dubuque Telegraph Herald, November 5, 1931

Waukon, Ia. Nov. 5 – Special: Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Mrs. William Henderson home in Franklin Township for Mrs. John Stafford, who died at the Henderson home Sunday after being confined to her bed since last January, when she fell and fractured his hip. Services were conducted by the Rev. R. L. Van Nice, and burial was made in Smithfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Stafford was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Becker, and was born in London, Canada, in 1850.

In 1874, she was married to John Stafford and they became the parents of seven children, four of them and her husband preceding her in death. The following children survive; Mrs. William Henderson and Floyd Henderson of Volney, Franklin Township, and Mrs. Amos Jenkins of Chuckwater, Wyo. She also leaves 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Note added by S. Ferrall on 3/19/2017: Cemetery records give her full name & dates as Lydia Ann Baker Stafford, 1850 Jan 09 - 1931 Oct 30. Researchers should confirm maiden name - either Becker or Baker.
