Friday 16 June 1972William S. Thomas, 57, of 243 Valley St., died at 11:45 p m. Thursday at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Behr’s, with burial in M t. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Sunday at Behr’s.
Mr. Thomas was born in Waukon, la. He was a self-employed logger, and was a member of the American Legion and served in the Air Force during World War II.
Surviving are his wife the former Mary Clancy; five daughters, Mrs. Truman (Joan) Johnson and Mrs. James (Patricia) Coffman, both of Dubuque, Mrs. Fred (Pauline) Donath of Swiss Valley, la., Mrs. Francis (Mary Ellen) Williams of Andrew, la., and Mrs. William (Rose Mary) Renard of Delmar, la.; two sons, William and John, both of Dubuque; three sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Nettie) Koons and Mrs. Nellie Wilson both of Waukon, la., and Mrs. Kenneth (Ethle) Nelson of Marian, la; and 28 grandchildren, including Jefferson Thomas whom Mr Thomas raised.
