Opfer, Henry F. 1875-1945

OPFER, HELMING, FLAGE, OGILVIE

Waukon, Ia. - Henry Opfer, 69, retired farmer, died in his sleep at his home here Saturday night. Death came as the result of a heart ailment.

Mr. Opfer was born Nov. 29, 1875, on a farm in Ludlow township, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Opfer. He was educated in the Waukon schools and business college.

On April 10, 1901, he was married to Clara E. Helming, and they resided on a farm in Ludlow township until a year ago, when they moved to Waukon.

He was a director of the German Mutual Insurance company, and a member of the Allamakee county fair board of directors.

He is survived by his wife; and daughter, Mrs. Grant Flage, Ludlow township; three sons, Martin and Edward, both of Ludlow township, and Leonard, Los Angeles, Calif.; four sisters, Misses Minnie and Laura Opfer, both of Waukon; Miss Emma Opfer, teacher in the Hudson, IA. school, and Mrs. Dorothy Ogilvie, instructor in a Los Angeles, Calif., school; and three brothers, John C. Opfer, retured druggist here; Fred Opfer, Los Angeles, and Albert Opfer, Minneapolis, Minn.

Mr. Opfer was a member of the Zalmona Presbyterian church in Ludlow township. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
