HAYES, STRAKA, LENZ, POHLMAN, YOUNG, THOMPSON, OETH

New Albin, Ia. - Funeral services for George Hayes, 82, were held Sunday afternoon at the M.E. Church with the Rev. M. Nothdurft, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in the New Albin Cemetery. Pallbearers were Albert Meyer, J.J. Higgins, I. Imhoff, Simon Medicus, John Mendenhall, and Freeman Meyer.

Mr. Hayes died at his home Thursday evening following a week's illness.

He was born in Iowa Township on Nov. 5, 1861, and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Hayes.

He was married to Josephine Straka on Feb. 22, 1893. They lived on a farm for several years, later establishing their home in New Albin, where he operated a livery stable and oil station, retiring a few years ago.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Elmer Lenz and Mrs. John Pohlman, both of New Albin; Mrs. Fern Young of La Crosse, Wis., Mrs. C.E. Thompson of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. Earl Oeth of Columbus, Ind.; one son, Herbert, of Clemons, Ia. and five grandchildren.

His wife preceded him in death four years ago.
