Mass will be said at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Sacred Heart Church for Mrs. Anna Maye Arend, 80, longtime Tucson resident, who died Tuesday at Forrester's rest home. Rosary will be said at 8 tonight at Reilly Funeral Home.

Mrs. Arend was the wife of P.M. Arend Sr. Born in Waukon, Iowa, she came from California to Arizona in 1909, living a few years in Phoenix before moving to Tucson.

The Arend's lived for many years at 708 Casa Grande Road and developed and sold considerable land acreage around them in the Flowing Wells Irrigation District. At the time she became hospitalized from a stoke 17 months ago, Mrs. Arend lived at 5320 Cresta Loma Drive in the Oracle Foothills.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Pauline M. Paynovich; a son, Paul M. Arend Jr.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of Tucson. A brother Carl Norton, resides in Pleasant Hill, Calif.

The family asked that any memorial contribution be given to the Bishop's Fund. Burial will be in Holy Hope Cemetery.

Note: Her maiden name is based on the assumption that it is the same as her brother Carl Norton. Researchers should confirm, and not assume I am correct.
