Perrin Cuppy Huffman died in his photo studio on Saturday, July 7, 1894 at the age of 61 years, 11 months, and 16 days. He was born on July 21, 1832 in Ashland County, Ohio, the son of Abraham Huffman and Margaret Cuppy. On September 21, 1851 he married Chastina Baird also of Ashland County, Ohio. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Winneshiek County, near Castalia, Iowa where they farmed for a short time until about 1854 or 1855 when they moved to Waukon, Iowa where he opened up a photography studio. His wife Chastina passed away on March 16, 1875. On August 12, 1880 he married Susan "Suzie" R. Holmes at Lansing, Iowa. In addition to Suzie he is survived by his two children from his first marriage Laton A. Huffman of Miles City, Montana and Della, wife of Alonzo A. Barnard of Waukon, Iowa. Perrin Huffman was buried in the Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa.

NOTE: The Woodmansee Courthouse Cemetery record lists Perrin Cuppy Huffman’s birth date as August 1, 1832 but the newspaper obituary listed his age as “61 years old, 11 months, and 16 days.” Perrin died on the 7th of July so he did not reach his birth day of July 21. If he had lived he would have been 62 years of age on July 21, 1894.

His second wife, Susan R. (Holmes) Huffman is also buried with Perrin and his first wife. Susan was born February 9, 1837 and died March 14, 1895 in Waukon, Iowa.
