Peter A. Whalen, 83, of New Albin, died Sunday, Jan. 11. in a Waukon nursing home.

He was born Aug. 2, 1892, in Allamakee County, to Patrick and Julia (Regan) Whalen. He married Frances E. Waters April 17, 1917, in New Albin, and they farmed in Houston County, Minn., until retiring in 1960.

Survivors are his widow; four sons, Earl of Albuquerque, N.M., Leo and Raymond, both of New Albin, and Dale of Baltimore, Md.; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Rita) Imhoff, and Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Bechtel, both of New Albin; 28 grandchildren; and a brother, William of Waukon.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, New Albin. Rev. Robert Levenhagen will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the New Albin Funeral Chapel after 5 p.m. Tuesday, with a rosary to be at 8 p.m.

Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, is in charge of arrangements.
