Earl L. Staggemeyer, 77, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 1996, at La Crescent Health Care Center, La Crescent, MN, where he had been a resident for 11 years.

He was born June 1, 1918, in Union City Township, Allamakee County, to August and Martha (Gade) Staggemeyer. Earl attended the Gade school, rural New Albin, and was a resident of the Eitzen, MN, and New Albin area until moving to La Crescent. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Wheatland, rural New Albin.

Surviving are a brother, Elmer and his wife, Erma of New Albin; a sister-in-law, Nora Staggemeyer of Eitzen; seven nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, and St. John's United Church of Christ, Wheatland, with Pastors Larry and Laura Odegaard officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Roble Funeral Home, Caledonia, MN, was in charge of arrangements.

Casket bearers were Ken, Lambert and Robert Staggemeyer, Jim Waters, Ron Vonderohe and Ron Weymiller.
