New Albin firemen recovered the body of Verna Irene Weymiller, 52, from the Upper Iowa River near where she drowned sometime Saturday morning.

Mrs. Weymiller drowned near the first bridge upstream from the Iowa 26 bridge, about 4 miles west of New Albin, sometime between 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. Saturday.

Funeral services for Mrs. Leland Weymiller will be held Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. from Mount Hope Presbyterian Church.

The Rev. Kent C. Weaver will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. Barry Blomquist, Stephen Jacobson, Roger Weymiller, Richard Wild, Daniel Bulman and Carey Griffin are pallbearers. Martin Funeral Home, Waukon, is in charge of arrangements.

Verna Jabobson was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Houston County, Minn., and was a daughter of Carl and Dona (Sieger) Jacobson. She was educated in the Houston County schools, and on July 27, 1943, married Leland Weymiller in Spring Grove, Minn.

Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Harlan Yohe of rural Waukon, and Mrs. Melvin Breeser of Comanche; a son, Gary at home; and seven grandchildren. Four brothers, Clifford and Leslie Jacobson of La Crosse, Wis., Norman of Longmount, Colo., and Milton of Turlock, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Gordon (Marie) Gullickson of Brown Deer, Wis., and Mrs. Mervin (Lillian) Elligson of Decorah, also survive.

Mrs. Weymiller was a member of Mount Hope Presbyterian Church.
