The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Arndt occurred Monday, March 3, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Dohlby at La Crosse, WI, where she had been staying for the past month.
Elizabeth Heiler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Heiler of Guttenberg, was born Nov. 23, 1869.
In 1891, she was married to Robert Arndt. They lived on a farm north of New Albin. To this union 12 children were born, eight daughters and four sons: Mrs. Leo (Hattie) Faas, Mrs. Ada Rice, and Mrs. Edward (Grace) Dohlby, La Crosse; Mrs. Henry (Helen) Thimmesch, New Albin; Mrs. Esther Thimmesch, Dubuque; Mrs. Elsie Sommermeyer, New Albin; Mrs. Hilda Schmitt, Cascade, MT; Mrs Florence Betsinger, Mabel, MN; Grover, Robert and Walter, New Albin; and Frank, Brownsville, MN. Her husband preceded her in death in 1938.
Besides her children she is survived by two brothers, George and William Heiler of Brownsville, MN; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Whiting and Mrs. Matilda Havel, both of La Crosse, and Mrs. Marie Taylor, Spokane, WA; 24 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from the Nelson Funeral Home in La Crosse with the Rev. LaVern Hanson officiating. Burial was in New Albin Cemetery. Casket bearers were Armin Luttchens, Albert and Harry Nelson, George Hahn, Harry Schuldt, and William Richards.
Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Fitschen, Mrs. Anna Whiting, Mrs. Matilda Havel, Mr. and Mrs. Jinks, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Rice, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Lunder and son, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Divine, all of La Crosse; Mrs. Ed Noel, Reno, MN; Mrs. Heiler and sons, Brownsville; and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fritz, Lansing.
