Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 29, for Alice Sheldon who died Saturday, June 26, 1993, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. The Rev. Tom Mattson conducted the 11 a.m. services at Grace United Methodist Church, New Albin. Burial was at 3:30 p.m. in Greednwood Cemetery, Masonville, IA. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon was in charge of arrangements.

Alice was born march 18, 1904, in Masonville, to Irving and Sadie (Scott) Child, and attended Masonville area schools. She later attended Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) in Cedar Falls. She and Earl Reiser were married in 1927 in Cedar Falls, and they farmed in the New Albin area until 1942.

She taught school in New Albin and Wheatland, ran a restaurant in Independence, IA, and was a cook at Coe College in Cedar Rapids during World War II when troops were training there. For several years she lived in New York where she cared for a great-uncle.

March 15, 1959, she and Roger Sheldon were married in Aurora, IA, and they farmed near Strawberry Point until 1964. They moved to Oelwein in 1964 where she lived until moving to Waukon in January.

She was a member of the New Albin and Oelwein Methodist churches, and formerly active in Farm Bureau.

Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Weymiller of New Albin, and Vivian Hammer of Waukon; two sons, Dale (Elaine) Reiser of Dorchester, and Cleon Reiser of Jacksonville, TN; two sisters, Edna Sexton of Waterloo, and Marie (Mrs. Wallace) Tisdale of Aurora; and two brothers, Elmer Child of Tucson, AZ, and George Child of Aurora. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Roger in 1982; a daughter, Joyce, who was 16 when she died; a brother, Howard Child; two sisters, Leona in infancy, and Iva Hansen; one grandson; and one great-grandson.

Casket bearers were Roger Weymiller, Ron and Dave Hammer, and Ken, mark, Curt, Dean and Dick Reiser.
