Allen Lawrence Belverud, 21, of Oelwein, formerly of New Albin, was killed instantly early Sunday in a one car accident on Highway 26, 5-1/2 miles north of the Iowa line, south of Brownsville, MN.

According to the Houston County sheriff’s office, Belverud, employed as a mechanic at Oelwein, was going south when his car apparently went out of control on a curve, went over a bank and into the east ditch, rolled over twice and came to rest against some trees.

was thrown out of the car. Dr. Philip Utz, Houston County coroner, said death was instantaneous. Deputy Sheriff James Westby and the Sate Patrol investigated.

Belverud was born March 19, 1953, at Madelia, Minn, to Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Belverud. He attended Lansing high school and was a graduate of the Calmar technical school.

He is survived by his parents of New Albin; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Gladys) Broderick of Northfield, Minn, and Mrs. Raymond (Marlys) Koster of New Albin; four brothers; Richard in California, and John, Gary and Mark at home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Potter-Haugen Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Bullis of the Hokah Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. Burial will be in the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery, Faribault.

Friends may call at the Potter-Haugen Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon and evening.
