Robert Thomson, 88, died Wednesday, July 12, in a Cresco nursing home.

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. peter's United Church of Christ, New Albin, with the Rev. Clyde Lee officiating. Burial was in the New Albin Cemetery.

Bakke and Hanson Funeral Home, Waukon, was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thomson was born June 14, 1879, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomson. He graduated from New Albin High School with the school's first class in 1895. He completed training as a mortician at Carpenter College in Des Moines.

Mr. Thomson was in the furniture and hardware business with his father, and also worked as a cattle buyer, farmer and employee of the State Conservation Commission.

He was married April 29, 1903, to Martha Holz, who died June 30, 1963. He was also preceded in death by a daughter.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Harold Stevens of Janesville, WI; a son, Donald Thomson of New Albin; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
