Martin Beneke, 42, New Albin, died Thursday at 9:10 p.m. at Caledonia Community Hospital after a short illness.

He was born March 6, 1926, in Jefferson Township, Houston County, Minn., to William and Mary (Meyer) Beneke. He operated a shoe repair shop at New Albin and had never married.

Survivors are his mother of New Albin; four brothers, Edwin, Louis and Walter of Caledonia, MN, and William of New Albin; and six sisters, Mrs. William (Hilda) Cordes and Mrs. Alvin (Norma) Oitzman of New Albin, Mrs. Alma Kannenberg and Mrs. William (Hanna) Wieland of Caledonia, Mrs. Henry (Frieda) Meyer of Eitzen, MN, and Mrs. Elmer (Olga) Morey of Spring Grove, MN. His father and one sister have died.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. peter's United Church of Christ, New Albin, the Rev. Clyde Lee officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
