THIMMESCH, MANDERS, FREILINGER, DRESSELHAUS, HOSCH

Nick Thimmesch passed away at a La Crosse, WI, hospital July 14.

He was born Dec. 6, 1869, in Houston County, MN, a son of the late Charles and Mary (Manders) Thimmesch. He was married to Mary Freilinger on June 10, 1895. To this union were born seven children, five sons and two daughters. He lived in Houston County and Allamakee County all his life, and for the past 19 years made his home with his daughter, Mrs. L. Dresselhaus.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, one daughter, eight brothers, two sisters, and his parents. He leaves to mourn his loss four sons, Joe of Burlington, IA, Leonard of Halstead, KS, and Gregor and Henry of New Albin; one daughter, Mrs. Leslie Dresselhaus of New Albin; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hosch of Caledonia, MN, and Mrs. Theresa Freilinger of Lansing; 22 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, new Albin, Saturday, July 16, at 9 a.m., with Father Costello officiating and John Burke in charge.

Casket bearers were James Schultz, Raymond Schultz, Leonard Heiderscheit, Leon May, Gilman beeler and Hiller Metzdorf.

Mr. Thimmesch was taken to St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse on June 11, and returned home June 19. He suffered a stroke June 25, and was taken to the hospital again where he died.

Those attending the funeral services from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. John Thimmesch and family of Burlington; Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Thimmesch and family of Burlington; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hummiston of Burlington; Mr. and Mrs. Matt King of La Crosse; Mrs. Mildred Heinz, Mrs. Nick Guillame and Mrs. Mary Hosch of Caledonia; Mr. and Mrs. Matt Freilinger of Monona; Mrs. Albert Meyer Jr. of Mason City; Mrs. Robert Darling of Charles City; and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dresselhaus of Sioux City, IA.
