Otto E. Hurley, 77, lifelong New Albin resident, passed away Saturday morning, June 7, in a La Crosse, WI, hospital after an illness of two years.
He was born in Iowa Township on April 6, 1892, a son of John and Sophia Hurley. he attended the rural school.
On Sept. 22, 1921, he married Alice Buckendahl at Winona, MN. He was manager of the New Albin Telephone Company for 34 years, and for many years was a substitute mail carrier.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. in St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Albin. Rev, Clyde Lee officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Leonard Heiderscheit, James Zeimet, Earl Wohlers, Herbert Zarwell, Harris Fink and James Valesh.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Vincent at home; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Thimmesch (Donna) of Key West, FL; one granddaughter, Wendy Sue Thimmesch; two sisters, Mrs. Alvina Crowley of New Albin, and Sister M. Alice of Lansing; and two brothers, Julius Hurley of New Albin, and Frank Hurley of Caledonia, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and one sister.
