Leon H. "Pete" May, 74, of New Albin, died Saturday, Dec. 31, in St. Francis Hospital, La Crosse, WI.

He was born Aug. 9, 1903, to George and Frances (Dailey) May of New Albin. He was married to the former Patricia Austin.

May and his wife owned and operated Mays' West Side Grocery in New Albin for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Wohlers of Bloomington, MN; three brothers, Orville of Marietta, GA, Ronald of Clayton, IA, and Gerald of Cedar Rapids; four sisters, Mrs. Al (Aileen) Collins and Mrs. Henry (Clare) Van Heel, both of Minneapolis, and Doris Spinner of Brownsville, MN; and three grandchildren.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, New Albin. Rev. Linus Rasing officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.

Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, was in charge of arrangements.
