James Edward Carninewas born Oct. 7, 1932, in Sac City, IA, to Louie and Cecile (Baichtal) Carnine. He died Friday, Jan. 15, 1993, at the age of 60 in Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake, IA.
Jim received most of his education in New Albin. He married Margaret Stehr June 19, 1952, at the United Church of Christ, Wheatland, rural New Albin. He farmed near New Albin until joining the Armed Forces in 1954. He returned to farming until 1967 when he joined the Storm Lake
Police Department. He was also chief of police in Garnavillo. He retired in 1985.Survivors include his wife; two sons, William and Kim Carnine of Ida Grove, IA, and Clark and Deb Carnine, of Princeton, IL; a daughter, Zona
and Jim Dixson of Marcus, IA; five grandchildren; six brothers, Robert, Everett, Gail, Max, Al and Paul; three sisters, Cedora Mason, Glenda Shore, and Mary Ellinger; and his mother-in-law, Vernetta Stehr of Waukon, IAHe was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Dawn; and five brothers, Calvin, Thomas, Billie, Gary and Charles.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at Sliefert Funeral Chapel in Storm Lake. Pastor Rick Senner officiated, and burial was in Wheatland Cemetery, New Albin.
