Services for Versell Pohlman, 65, and his wife Clara, 65, who died of smoke inhalation from a fire caused by lightning in their New Albin home early Friday, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Eitzen, MN, Rev. Cyril Serwe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Potter-Haugen Funeral Home, Caledonia, MN, Sunday afternoon until 5 p.m., at the funeral chapel in New Albin from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until the service.
Pohlman was born May 18, 1910, to Mr. and Mrs. Bernhardt Pohlman in Jefferson Township, Houston County, MN. he married Clara Schroeder on June 10, 1936, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Eitzen.
They farmed in the Eitzen area until moving to New Albin, where Pohlman was employed at the Great Plains Supply Co. until his retirement about two months ago.
Mrs. Pohlman was born Dec. 31, 1910, to Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Schroeder in Winnebago Township, Houston County, MN. She worked as a babysitter in the New Albina area.
They are survived by a son, Leander of Holmen, WI.
Pohlman's other survivors are his mother, Mrs. Clara Pohlman of New Albin; a brother, Melvin of New Albin; and three sisters, Mrs. Albert (Esther) Diersen of Eitzen, Mrs. Theodore (Hilda) Kruse of New Albin, and Mrs. Ruben (Evelyn) Skadsem of Anchorage, AK.
Mrs. Pohlman is survived by two brothers, Carl and Arnold of Caledonia; and three sisters, Mrs. Ella Meiners of Caledonia, Mrs. John (Amanda) Olson of Mabel, MN, and Mrs. Emil (Lillian) Trass of Austin, MN.
