James L. Mitchell, 93, of New Albin, died peacefully Monday, Nov. 27, 1995, in Thornton Manor Nursing Home in Lansing.

He was born July 19, 1902, in Osborne, Iowa. He married Teresa Hammell on Sept. 28, 1926. She preceded him in death Sept. 27, 1974.

Jim loved and supported 12 children, three of whom preceded him in death, Kenneth, Peter and James.

He is survived by six sons, Lawrence (Lucille), David (Barb), Bill (Ginny), and Earl (Arlis), all of New Albin, Gerald (Mary Ann) of Cedar Rapids and Raymond (Carol) of Plymouth, Minn.; three daughters, Mary Jo (Carl Sr.) Colsch of Caledonia, Minn., Teresa (Dick) Kubitz of New Albin and Esther (Jim) Benesh of Cedar Rapids.

Jim also dearly loved his 56 grandchildren and 69 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Friday, Dec. 1, with burial in McGregor, Iowa.
