Roma Grace Paus, 76, of New Albin, died Monday, Sept. 11, 1995, in St. Francis Medical Center, La Crosse, WI, after a short illness. She was born Sept. 7, 1919, in Dorchester, to Walter and Emma (Wiemerslage) Paus. Roma taught in Allamakee County schools for four years, after which she entered Luther College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She then attended Eden Theological Seminary, graduating with a Master of Arts degree in 1947. Since that time, she had worked at the Fellowship Center in St. Louis, and as a field worker for the Board of Christian Education in Philadelphia. For a year she worked at Hoyleton Children's Home, Hoyleton, Ill., and in 1960 and 1961 she worked at St. John's United Church of Christ in Louisville, KY. Later she was program director at Fort Wayne Children's Home and after that she was a case worker and Special Education teacher at the Sunburst Youth Home in Neillsville, WI.

Survivors include a sister, Norma (Albert) Fruechte of New Albin; a brother, Raymond (Delores) Paus of Waukon; four nieces; three nephews; four great-nieces; and six great-nephews. Roma was preceded in death by her parents; one niece; and one great-niece.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, from St. Peter United Church of Christ, New Albin. The Rev. Dennis Siebert will officiate. In accordance with Roma's wishes, her body will then be cremated and burial will take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, in New Albin Funeral Chapel; and 10 a.m. until services Thursday, in the church. Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, MN, is in charge of arrangements.
