John F. Carroll, 65, New Albin, died Monday, June 13, in Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse, WI.

He was born on Sept. 28, 1917, in Caledonia, MN, to James and Lena (Schobert) Carroll. He married Rita Smerud in April 1948. She died in February 1969.

Survivors are three sons, David, James and Joseph, all of New Albin; two daughters, Mrs. David (Linda) Peterson of Bourbonnais, IL, and Anita Gage of La Crosse; five grandchildren' two brothers, Bill of Colorado Springs, CO, and Verle of Baldwin, WI; and three sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Lorraine) Green of Great Falls, MT, Mrs. Clifford (Betty) Ferguson of New Richmond, WI, and Mrs. Bob (Mary) Lewis of Caledonia.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, New Albin. The Rev. Robert P. Rahe will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the New Albin Funeral Chapel today from 5 to 9 p.m., with a wake scripture service at 8 p.m.

The Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, is in charge of arrangements.
