Roy E. Garrett, 61, of Lansing, died on Monday, August 7, 1978, at Thornton Manor Care Center where he had been a resident for about three weeks. He had been in failing health for the past several years.

He was born on August 20, 1916, at Freeburg, MN, the son of Jessie and Winifred (Moore) Garrett.

He was married to Rita Strub at Lansing on September 7, 1937.

Tahey were in business in Lansing for about 20 years, first operating the Corner Cafe, and later the Lansing Hotel.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Roger (Lois) Fox of Fairbank, Iowa; and three sons, Francis of Waukon, and Thomas and Ronald of Lansing. He is survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Earl of Lansing; and three sisters, Mrs. Cleo Johnson of Moorehead, MN, and Mrs. Mark (Dorothy) Strub and Mrs. Frank (Wilma) Berwanger, both of Dubuque.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow, August 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, with the Rev. William McLaughlin and Rev. Carl Manternach officiating.

Pallbearers will be Roger and Douglas Fox, and Francis, Tom, Ron and Scott Garrett.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home. A wake service will be conducted at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
