NEW ALBIN, IA—Truman Wenig, 63, of Dorchester, an Allamakee County road employee, was killed Saturday when a large tree limb fell on him as he and others were cutting down a tree on a fishing access road near here. Survivors include his wife, five daughters and two brothers.

NEW ALBIN, IA-Truman Wenig, 63, Dorchester, Iowa, was killed by a falling tree branch near here Saturday at 11 a.m. Wenig was working with an Allamakee County highway department crew felling trees for construction of a sportsman's access road to hunting and fishing grounds just southeast of New Albin.

He was born Nov. 20, 1899, to Mr. and Mrs. George Wenig, Dorchester. He married the former Leona Bulman Oct. 3, 1922, and they lived on a farm near Dorchester until six years ago when they moved to town. He had been employed by the county highway department since that time.

Survivors are his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Margaret) Meyer, Dorchester; Mrs. Otto (Nadine) Renk, Waukon; Mrs. Ronald (Lorna Mae) Meiners and Mrs. Milton (Evelyn) Staggemeyer, Eitzen, and Mrs. David (Donna Lou) Fruechte, Verdi, Minn.; two brothers, Edwin and Franklin Wenig, Dorchester; and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Methodist Church, Dorchester, the Rev. Melvin Beemon officiating. Burial will be in the Methodist Cemetery.

Friends may call Monday at Potter-Haugen Funeral Home, Caledonia, and Tuesday at the church after 1 p.m.
