Mrs. F. Hess is Called To Rest
Dies At Home In Lansing After 7 Years Illness; Burial Monday
Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Immaculate Conception church for Mrs. Frances Hess, 77, who died Thursday, Nov. 13, at her home after an illness of seven years. She was bedridden for five years. She was tenderly cared for by her daughter, Alice and son Alphonse. Her nephew, The Reverend Frank Zoll, of Sparta, Wis. celebrated the solomn requiem mass and was assisted by the Reverend Arthur Stirn, deacon, and the Reverend J. J. Breitbach sub-deacon. Burial was made in Gethsemane cemetery.
A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Zoll, she was born at Lansing on January 26, 1864. For eight years she lived in New York where she met and married Joseph Hess, Oct 24, 1889. Five years later they returned to Lansing, where Mr. Hess died on Nov. 27, 1912.
She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was also a member of the Rosary Society. She is survived by the following daughters and sons: Mrs. Martini Wilder of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs Genevieve Brouglette of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Alice of Lansing, Alphonse, Pius and Urban of Lansing, and Victor of Mount Ayr, Iowa; four grandchildren, one great grandchild and one brother, Alex Zoll, of Chicago, Ill.
Pallbears were: George Scholtes, Franz Nachtwey, Peter Zabolitsky, D. A. Holmes, Joe Rice and Joe Weipert.
