Waukon- Edmond N. White, 73, of rural Waukon, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, in his home following a lengthy illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Waterville Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Kim Thacker. Burial: Oakland Cemetery, Waukon, with military graveside rites. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Martin Funeral Home, Waukon.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; four daughters, Connie White Delaney of North Liberty, Sue Rathbun of Waukon, Lora McClimon of Charlotte and Ann White of Waukon; two sons, Clark White of Vista, Calif., and Loren White of Bird City, Kan.; and three sisters, Betty Brown of McCloud, Okla., Lyle Simmons of Darlington, Wis., and Alice Imburgia of Roswell, Minn.

Edmond N. White, 73, of rural Waukon, died December 24 at his home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held December 28 at the Waterville Lutheran Church in Waterville, with Rev. Kim Thacker officiating. Burial with military graveside rites was in Oakland Cemetery of Waukon.

Edmond Neal White was born October 22, 1926 at the rural Caledonia, MN, home of his parents, Elmer and Myrtle (Moe) White. At the age of two he moved with his family to Franklin Township where they began farming. He attended Franklin #9 rural elementary school. Ed moved to Waukon and took a job to pay the rent so he could attend high school. He graduated from Waukon High School in 1944. He served in the United States Army from 1945-46 and saw duty in occupied Japan. Following the service he returned to Allamakee County where he farmed with his father and worked at Johnson's Tavern in Waterville. On June 12, 1949 he married Betty Johnson at the Waterville Lutheran Church. This past summer they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Ed operated a gas station and bulk oil delivery service in Waterville from 1950-1955. In 1955 he began farming. He loved the farm life and caring for the land and his Holstein cows.

Ed belonged to and was a former council member of the Waterville Lutheran Church. He was also a Franklin Township Trustee, a member of the Rural Fire Board and a representative on the rural ambulance board. He was an avid reader, enjoying especially historical accounts and western novels. He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, digging ginseng, watching football on TV and spending time with his family.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, his son Craig Allan White, his sister Ila Fuller, and his brother Walter White.

Survivors include his wife Betty of Waukon, daughters Connie White Delaney, North Liberty, and her son Jeremy Barr-Delaney; Sue Ellen Rathbun of Waukon and her children Matthew and Beth Rathbun and Sara Groe; Lora and husband Randy McClimon of Charlotte and their children Tara, Amber, Luke and Savannah; and Ann Annetta White of Waukon; sons E. Clark White and partner Scott Helberg of Vista CA and Loren and wife Wendy White of Bird City, KS and their children Alisha, Nickolas, Lucius, Jacob and Jeremiah; also Craig's children, Chad, Shannon, Craig J. and Cindy White and Stacy Larsen; six great-grandchildren; sisters Betty and husband LeRoy Brown of McCloud, OK, Lyle Ann and husband Jack Simmons of Darlington, WI and Alice and husband Tony Imburgia of Roswell, NM.

Honorary casketbearers were Mick Angell, Dale Ralston, Merle Puhrman, Elliott Wolfson, Neil Leas, Harlan Yohe, Lester Fish, Ozzie Quandahl, Gordon Marti, Scott Helberg, and Patricia Donahue.

Casketbearers were Connie White Delaney, Sue Ellen Rathbun, E. Clark White, Loren White, Lora and Randy McClimon, Ann Annetta White, Shannon White, Doug All and Carol Thornton.

The Martin Funeral Home of Waukon is in charge of the arrangements.
