Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Schutte Funeral Home for George Ewing, 80, with Rev. Curtis Webster officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Post township.

Mr. Ewing passed away at the home of his brother, Charles Ewing, last Thursday.

George Ewing, son of Jacob and Alice Ewing was born October 26, 1868, on a farm in Post township and passed away at the home of his brother, Charles Ewing in Postville, January 6, at the age of 80 years.

George, better known to his friends as 'Fisher', was a lifelong resident of this county. He was educated in the rural schools of this county and in his earlier years was engaged as an engineer, operating steam engines on saw mills and threshing machines in this county.

In later years he farmed with his brother, Charles, where he made his home until his death. For the past two years he had been in ill health and confined to his bed. During his illness he was cared for by his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ewing.

Mr. Ewing was never married. He leaves to mourn his passing, two brothers, Ed and Charles, both of Postville; three sisters, Cora, Mrs. Amos Brainard; Alfreda, Mrs. S.S. Smith; and Bertha, Mrs. John Thomas, all of Postville.

Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
