Funeral services for Curtis "Curt" Lorenz Gilbert Block, age 76, of Ely,Iowa will be held on Thursday, December 3 at the Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids,Iowa with visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday,December 2. Burial will be at a later date.

Curtis Lorenz Gilbert Block was born February 7, 1939 on a farm near Postville, Iowa, son of Lawrence and Hulda (Kuhse) Block. He was baptized and confirmed at St.Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville. Curt was a loving father and enjoyed spending time with his family.He was fun loving and spirited. He enjoyed picking on people he was around. He loved working on and rebuilding Ford retractable hard tops and showing off his cars.

Curt died on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids after a long illness. He is survived by his children: Dean Block of Ely, Lori Masterson of North English, Iowa, and Russ Aarhus of Cedar Rapids; 20 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; his siblings, Marvin (Ida) Block of Oxford, Iowa and Eileen (Harry) Kessel of Caledonia, Minnesota in addition to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Duane and Lyle.
