Funeral services were held July 13 at a funeral home in Sunnyside, Washington for Arad Fred Owen, former Postville resident, who passed away Thursday, July 9, at a Spokane hospital after several months illness. Burial was in a nearby cemetery.
Arad Fred Owen, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Owen, was born April 30, 1883 at the farm home east of Postville. As a young man he traveled around a great deal.
In 1915 he was married to Elizabeth Shaw of Yakima, Washington. For a time they managed a sheep ranch at Boise, Idaho, later going to Sunnyside, Washington. To this union were born three children, LeRoy, who died in infancy, Robert of Sunnyside, and Mrs. Stanley (Ruth) Woodward of Sunnyside.
He leaves to mourn his passing his widow; two children; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Eugene E. Owen of Postville; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Knuteson of Concord, California, Mrs. Alice E. Wagner of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin and Mrs. Emma Custer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
