Funeral services for Gilbert Sanders, 65, were held Monday afternoon of last week at the Schutte Funeral Home. Mrs. Lacy Bell Richter of Waukon, Christian Science reader, officiating in the services. Burial was made in Postville.

Mr. Sanders passed away at his home in Cedar Rapids, July 19.

The son of John Sanders and Jessie Coyle-Sanders, he was born in Postville July 22, 1887. He was graduated from Postville High School and Iowa State College at Ames, as a civil engineer. His lifetime was spent in Postville until ten years ago, the past five years of which were spent in Cedar Rapids.

He was associated in business with his father, the late John Sanders in the general merchandising business until 1929, selling his interests to Kenneth Sanders, his brother, and Fred Luhman. While in Cedar Rapids he was employed with the Iowa Manufacturing Company, until he retired in December, 1951.

He was married to Ethel Ward and to this union four children were born, three of whom are left. Survivors include, Mrs. Sanders; his aged mother, Mrs. Jessie Sanders of Hinsdale, Illinois; two daughters, (Gertrude) Mrs. Frank Norden of Waukon; Mrs. Janet Overalls of Cincinnati, Ohio; Jack of Midland, Michigan; one sister, (Jeanette), Mrs. John Reineke of Hinsdale, Illinois; one brother, Kenneth of Tryon, North Carolina, and grandchildren and nieces.
