Donald J. Walters, age 69, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 5 at St. Jude Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Donald was born October 22, 1946 in Waukon, Iowa to Leon and Dorothy (Lloyd) Walters. After graduating from high school, Donald served with the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Donna Nadine Horn on October 30, 1993 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Donald worked as a project manager with Pearson Wall Systems. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and boating. He loved to travel and go RV-ing. He especially treasured the time he spent with his family.

Donald is survived by his wife Donna; six children, Brian Walters of Cedar Rapids, Christie (David) Hoffman of Hiawatha, Iowa, Shawn Hoffman of Marion, Iowa, Jeff Hoffman of Creston, Iowa, Kim Hoffman of Monticello, Iowa, and Amy Hoffman of Lebanon, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; many loving great-grandchildren; his brother, Dale Walters of Newhall, Iowa and his sister, Peggy Pugmire of Cedar Rapids; several nieces and nephews and dear friends as well as his special dogs, Daisy and Sasha.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, daughter-in-law, Karleene Walters and one niece, Kimberly Ann Walters. Memorials in Donald's name may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa.
