Francis Gordon Huffman, age 99, of Marion, Iowa died on Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 14 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories where a visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. until service time. The Rev. Josh Hansen will officiate. Burial will take place at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Francis was born October 26, 1916 at Rossville, Iowa, the son of Lee and Gladys (Leas) Huffman. He married Orpha "Peg" Buege on April 6, 1936 in Missouri. He was a World War II veteran. He retired in 1986 after working for more than 40 years in the road construction business with B.L. Anderson, Inc. He and Peg enjoyed many years at their cabin in Guttenburg, Iowa and spending the winters in Texas. He also enjoyed going to the casino as well as being with his many friends at Village Ridge in Marion, where he had been a resident for the past 9 years.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Orpha in 1997; his infant brother Gene Garland Huffman and his sisters Neva Mead, Imogene Montour, Betty Everman, and Shirley Straate; his brothers-in-law Joe Mead, Harvey Montour, Harold Everman, Harry Straate and Leonard Serbousek; and his son-in-law Darwin "Clem" Paul.

He is survived by his daughters Patricia Paul-Shilhanek and her husband Fred of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Karen Sue Simmons and her husband Dale of Central City, Iowa, and Judy Rae Gaulke and her husband Carl of Manchester, Iowa. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Note of transcriber: June Serbousek is another sister but her name was omitted in this obituary. It is believed that she is his surviving sibling.
