Curtis L. Gramlich, 82, of Lansing, passed peacefully at his son’s home in Hudson, WI on Sunday, November 29th, 2015, joining his loving wife of 56 years, Betty, in Heaven. Curtis Laverne, the son of Edward and Evelyn (Schafer) Gramlich was born February 5th, 1933 in Lacrosse, WI.

Curtis spent his early years working on the family dairy farm. He played forward on the Lansing High School basketball team and graduated in 1951. After graduation, Curtis served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, completing basic training at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. Afterward, he was assigned to drive a heavy artillery and communication vehicle as a Private First Class in the 74th Field Artillery Battalion stationed in Nuremberg, Crailsheim and Rothenberg West Germany.

Upon completing his military service, Curtis returned to Lansing and took over operation of the family farm on Mays Prairie where his great grandfather originally settled in the mid 1800’s. He began dating Betty Fink and was united in marriage with her on October 25th, 1958 at the Federated Church in Lansing. To this union, a daughter and a son were born.

Curtis loved his life on the farm, comradery and friendship of many relatives, friends and neighbors and companionship of his dogs. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need and felt honored to do so. Curtis also enjoyed traveling and made several trips to California, Texas, Minnesota, Colorado, Wyoming, Wisconsin and Australia.

Curtis spent his later years devoted to caring for his loving wife, Betty, who suffered a stroke in 2008.

Curtis was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lansing.

Curtis is survived by his daughter, Terry (Clyde) Trickey of Georgetown, TX; and his son Todd (Sandi) Gramlich of Hudson, WI; 3 grandchildren, Amber, Elizabeth and Jared; 2 great grandchildren, Taylar and Natalie; and many loving and caring nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; his brother, Merlyn; and his great grandson, Reed.
