Myron Carroll Krambeer, 84, of New Albin, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997 at Thornton Manor in Lansing.

He was born Aug. 31, 1912 in Clayton County to John and Clara (Henkes) Krambeer. He received his education in Clayton county rural schools.

Jan. 3, 1933 Myron married Mae McNally. They had five children together. She died Sept. 5, 1961.

Myron worked as a farm laborer most of his adult life, except for three years the family spent in Henderson, Nev., where he worked in a government plant.

Sept. 20, 1962 he married Charlotte Leibold. They owned and operated taverns in Elma, Iowa, and later in New Albin. They retired in 1983.

He is survived by his wife of New Albin; four daughters, Beverly (Vernon) Hartson of Elgin; Cleon Schissel of Milon, Ill.; Carol (Roger) Balk of Decorah; and Sharon (James) Spilde of Cresco; one son, Merlin (Marge) Krambeer of New Albin; an adopted daughter, Sandra Hickey of Florida; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Harold, Lester, Kenneth, Gerald, Burnell and Verdell; and four sisters, Edna Ihde, Lucille McNally, Lorene Neverman and Irma Meyer.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 6, at the New Albin Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kim Thacker officiating. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery with Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
