Helen S. Luttchens, 91, of New Albin, Iowa, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.

She was born April 27, 1908, in Jefferson Township, Minn., to William and Dora (Issackson) Schuldt. On Oct. 15, 1932, Helen married Armin Luttchens at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, and he preceded her in death on March 15, 1983. Helen was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in New Albin where she had served on the church council and the women's fellowship. She also was a member of the Riverview Homemakers.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Donna Luttchens of New Albin; two grandchildren, Neal (Julie) Luttchens of New Albin and Sandra Luttchens of Waterloo, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Andy and Mitchel; five sisters, Blanche (William) Schaller of New Albin, Esther Merry of Rochester, Minn., Evelyn Wuennecke of DuBois, Wyo., Deloris (Robert) Weiss of Overland Park, Kansas and Phyllis (Lee) Jensen of Dewey, Ariz.; two brothers, Harry Schuldt of Caledonia and Charles Schuldt of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Schuldt of Caledonia and Francis Schuldt of La Crescent; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Elmer Luttchens; a sister, Margaret Schroeder; and three brothers, Arnold, Barthell and Henry Schuldt.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, from St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Albin. Rev. William Reese will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Peter's Memorial Cemetery, New Albin. Friends may call at the New Albin Town House and Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church. The Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, is in charge of arrangements.
