Mary Louise (Weymiller) Welper, 72, formerly of New Albin, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Thornton Manor, Lansing after a long battle with Shydragger Syndrome. Funeral services were held Monday, October 25 at the Lansing United Methodist Church, Lansing. Pastor Steve Hubbell officiated. Burial was in the New Albin City Cemetery, New Albin.
She was born February 23, 1938 in Allamakee County to Frank and Marion (Tabatt) Weymiller, Jr. Mary was a 1956 graduate of New Albin High School. She then attended WWTI (now WTC) in La Crosse, WI for two years.
June 20, 1959, she married La Verne Welper at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Mary worked for Gateway Transportation in La Crosse, WI for three years. She then worked as a Postal Clerk at the United States Post Office in New Albin and later Lansing until her retirement. December 28, 2000, La Verne preceded Mary in death.
Mary was a loving mother and grandmother who always wanted to spend her free time with her family. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends at chair night Saturdays at the High Chaparall in New Albin.
Survivors include one daughter, Jody (Kyle) Johnson of Lansing; three grandchildren, Jocelyn, Quincy, and Alexis Johnson, all of Lansing; one sister, Ruth Ann (Leon) Myhre of Caledonia, MN; two brothers, Louis (Caryn) Weymiller of Waukon and Franklin “Doc” (Jean Ann) Weymiller of Harpers Ferry; one sister-in-law, Sheryl Welper of New Albin; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents and one brother-in-law, Merle Welper.
Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Caledonia, MN assisted the family with arrangements.
