Robert J. “Bob” Weymiller, 77, of rural New Albin, Iowa, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at his home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 16, at 2 p.m. at the Community Center in New Albin, with Rev. Keith Putney officiating. Burial will be in the New Albin City Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Center in New Albin. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon is handling arrangements.

Robert Joseph “Bob” Weymiller was born September 5, 1927, on the rural New Albin farm of his parents, Robert H. and Helen K. (Krouth) Weymiller. He attended the rural “Morgan School” and New Albin High School.

On August 8, 1947, he married Shirley Reiser at her parents’ home. Bob spent his working life farming the home place where he was born. He operated a dairy herd and raised beef cattle, hogs, horses, and grain. He also sold seed corn for Supercross and Dekalb. Bob loved the farm life and spent his favorite days in the combine and on the tractor. He was an experienced welder and spent may hours making improvements to the machinery and buildings on the farm. He was very attentive to the livestock and took special care of all the animals, especially his dog Jake. He had also restored an antique tractor which he drove in several area parades. Bob was a long time member of the Upper Iowa Saddle Club where he held numerous offices, and in recent years he had started to spend some time fishing.

Survivors include his wife Shirley of New Albin; a son, Roger (Joan) Weymiller of New Albin; two daughters, Judy (Dave) Peterson of La Crescent, Minn., and Janet Weymiller of New Albin; seven grandchildren, Rick and Lori Weymiller, Lana (Nick) Dahlstrom, Jennipher (Chad) Maas, Melissa Richards, Dawn Seifert and Jessi Stark; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Edwin (Sharon) Weymiller of New Albin; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Ray.

Casketbearers are Doug, Dennis, and Gary Weymiller, Mark Reiser, Harlan Yohe, and Ron Elvers.
