Ruth Wilson, age 97, of Lansing, IA, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, in Rockledge, FL, where she had resided the past six months in the loving care of her daughter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 14, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Lansing, with Pastor Keith Putney officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing. Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing.

Ruth was born in Sanborn, IA, August 26, 1907, to George and Cora Colvin. She was an accomplished musician and played piano for silent movies while in high school. After graduation, she attended the State University of Iowa and Iowa State Teachers College, now the University of Northern Iowa. Following certification, she taught fifth and sixth grades in New Albin, IA, from 1928 to 1933. On her birthday in 1933 she married Frank Seger Wilson, DDS. They lived in New Albin from 1933 to 1950. THey moved to Lansing in 1951 where Frank continued his dental practice.

Ruth loved both communities and was active in her church and library. She was president of the Lansing Library for 14 years. Commitments also included Eastern Star with an appointment as Grand Chaplain of the State of Iowa in 1964, as well as membership in Sweet Adelines, PEO, and the American Legion.

Ruth is survived by her children, Sue Caril (Everett) Paige of Rockledge, FL; and Bruce Colvin (Judy) Wilson MD of Bemidji, MN; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1971; and her brothers, Ralph and Harry Colvin.

Ruth cherished her family, wonderful friends, community, and special neighbors Ken and Karen Leppert, who were always there for her.
