Walter George Kumpf, 86, Eitzen, died Friday, October 3, 1997, at Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse.

He was born August 28, 1911, in Dorchester, IA, to George and Louise (Huehl) Kumpf. He married Edna Ellingson September 24, 1936, in Spring Grove, MN. The couple farmed in the Dorchester area until moving to Eitzen, MN, 20 years ago.

They were former members of the Dorchester Methodist Church and then the United Methodist Church in Caledonia, MN.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dwayne (Patricia) of New Albin, IA, and George (Karen) of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren; and one brother, William Kumpf of San Diego, CA.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Alton Kumpf, and one sister, Clara Goodno.

Services were held on Wednesday, October 8, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church. Pastor Howard Bredesen officiated. Burial was in St. John's Methodist Cemetery in Dorchester.

Roble Funeral Home, Caledonia, was in charge of arrangements.
